FAQ

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Yes! We are able to accept many commercial insurance plans, including United Healthcare, UMR, GEHA, Aetna, Meritain, Cigna, Curative, Multiplan, PNOA, PHCS, and VA CCN.

We will soon be able to accept most Anthem BCBS plans! For now, all Anthem BCBS patients are self-pay.

We are currently unable to bill Medicaid and HMOs.

All home visits include a $50 travel fee. This fee is not billable to insurance and will be collected at the time of service.

WHAT IS YOUR SELF-PAY PRICING?

For patients whose insurance we are unable to bill directly:
Standard billing rates are $250 for home visits, $200 for office visits, and $150 for virtual visits.
A prompt-pay discount is available when payment is made at the time of service: $160 for home visits, $120 for office visits, and $100 for virtual visits.

Superbills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement are available upon request, and we are happy to submit an out-of-network claim on your behalf. Please note that reimbursement is determined by your insurance company and is not guaranteed.

HOW FAR WILL YOU GO FOR A HOME VISIT?

We have a very large service area, covering the majority of central Georgia. If you’re unsure if we’ll drive to you, just ask — we probably will!

WHERE IS YOUR OFFICE?

We now have TWO convenient locations!

Macon

Our Macon office is located at 2607 Vineville Ave., Suite 107 in the Historic Vineville District.

The building is called Stanislaus Commons and is a lovely historic home that has been renovated for private offices. You’ll find plenty of parking and a wheelchair (and stroller!) accessible entrance.

Sandersville

Our cute little private consultation room is inside Sandersville Drug Co., located at 528 Sparta Road in beautiful downtown Sandersville, Georgia.

Never been to Sandersville? Plan to stop in our adorable local shops and restaurants while you’re here. 💗

Check out Sandersville Main Street’s Facebook page for downtown happenings and Washington County Chamber of Commerce’s website for a list of places to explore before or after your lactation visit!

WHAT HAPPENS IN A LACTATION VISIT?

In short, this is time focused completely on you, your baby, and your unique needs. We will discuss your desires as they relate to feeding and caring for your baby. We will also discuss you and your baby’s medical history, including anything and everything that could impact lactation and feeding. For in-person visits, we will typically weigh the baby before and after feeding to assess milk transfer. I will examine your baby’s oral function, and I will assess your breast anatomy. I’ll discuss anything I’m seeing that could pose a challenge, and together, we will create a plan.

WHAT IF I’M NOT BREASTFEEDING?

We specialize in many aspects of lactation and infant feeding, including how to optimize pumping, safe formula feeding, and introducing complementary foods when it’s developmentally appropriate. If we are billing insurance, then lactation must be involved. However, we believe that there are many ways to love and feed a baby, and we promise to provide empathetic and appropriate care regardless of your parenting and feeding choices.

CAN MY PARTNER BE THERE?

Absolutely! Because the consultation room is small, please limit office visits to one additional person besides mom and baby. For home visits, we ask that you list anyone who should be in attendance. To protect your privacy, your consultant will ask anyone not included on that list to leave the room during the visit.

WHAT IF I NEED TO FEED OR PUMP RIGHT BEFORE THE VISIT?

To make the most of our time together, plan to feed your baby 2-2.5 hours prior to our visit. If you are pumping, plan to pump at your usual interval before the visit (for example, if you typically pump every 3 hours, time your last pumping session 3 hours prior to your visit start time).
