Lactation Support Covered by Your Insurance
At Nurturing Lactation Care, we believe cost shouldn’t stand between you and expert breastfeeding support. Under the Affordable Care Act, most insurance plans are required to cover lactation consultations with no out-of-pocket cost. Our IBCLCs — Leia Giddens and Rebecca “Becky” Foley — are in-network with the following plans:
- Aetna
- Meritain Health
- United Healthcare
- Curative
- Cigna (in partnership with Wildflower)
Don’t see your plan listed? Many out-of-network plans still offer reimbursement for lactation services. Contact us and we’ll help you check your benefits.
Please note: we are unable to accept HMO plans.
Curative members: If you’re enrolled in a Curative health plan, your lactation consultations are covered at $0 cost-share as part of your plan’s preventive care benefits. We collect your member details during intake, so there’s nothing you need to bring to your visit.
Meritain Health members: Meritain administers benefits for many employer-sponsored plans. Coverage details can vary by employer, so we recommend calling the number on the back of your card to confirm your lactation benefit before scheduling, or letting our office verify it for you.
Breast Pump Replacement Parts
Most of the plans above also cover replacement pump parts — flanges, valves, tubing, and more — as part of your durable medical equipment (DME) benefit. We keep supplies in stock at our Macon office and can dispense them at your visit or ship them directly to you. Ask us during your visit or reach out anytime to check your eligibility.
How Insurance Verification Works
- Schedule your visit online or by phone.
- Share your insurance information during intake, before your appointment.
- Our team verifies your benefits — and your eligibility for covered pump parts — ahead of time so there are no surprises.
- Attend your consult with Leia or Becky — most patients pay nothing out of pocket.
